He graduated in the top 10% of his class from the prestigious University of Virginia School of Law, winning national honors in mock-trial competitions, trying cases as a student prosecutor in Philadelphia and Richmond, and publishing a peer-reviewed journal article on neuroimaging evidence—all while completing a master’s degree at Johns Hopkins University’s top-ranked foreign policy school. He earned the top score in the country when he took the Texas Bar Exam.

Eric began his career as a prosecutor, serving in the Trial Division of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office in New York before joining the U.S. Department of Justice as an Assistant U.S. Attorney. His criminal trials spanned a range of offenses and subject matter, from international money laundering and wire fraud conspiracy to murder-for-hire, identity theft, and foreign sex trafficking. Serving in DOJ’s white-collar and major crimes divisions with TS-SCI clearance, he also led complex, often high-profile investigations of pain doctors and pharmacy chains fueling the opioids crisis, arms dealers exporting weapons to terrorists, fraudulent medical clinics and military contractors cheating taxpayers, and a corrupt DEA agent caught laundering money for foreign drug cartels.
